Blog post the first

India, a hot humid country that averages around 95 in the summer. For a white, Oregonian boy like myself this was a huge change, the first of many. The major part of the adventure started when I first walked off the airplane into the Mumbai airport. It was hot and I had no idea were to go. Throughout the rest of trip to hyderabad it did not seem to get any better, when the flight attendants found out that I was sick they took it upon them selves to watch over my every move, it even got to the point were they locked me in the pilots lounge and would not let me lave until I almost missed the buss to catch my flight. I realize now that that was a blessing in disguise and they were probably just trying to protect me, but at the moment I was pretty peeved. Over the next few days, it was a mix of recovering and learning hands on about the culture. From food (amazing) to the beggars walking the streets. The beggars in India are alot different from the beggars in India; in America, the beggars will sit on the side of the road hoping someone will stop and give them money; but in India, due to the mass street chaos and lack of traffic lights, the traffic is alot slower so the beggars, who are alot more haggard and aggressive and sometimes have no arms, will come up to your car, continually tap on your window and begg for money. It breaks your heart, but you can't help all of them, so you just ignore them and drive on. A prime example of this happened a few days ago, we had just finished visiting the charmanar and we were walking back to the car, once we got into the car, these four girls surrounded the car and started tapping on the windows, meanwhile this old man sat down nd the car and refused to get out of the way, so our driver, being the great Christian but aggressive driver that he is just started backing up, all the while yelling the the old man to get out of the way. Eventually he did, and we were able to drive away both groups (exept the old man, I thing) laughing about the situation. Those are just a few of the many things I am going to get accustomed to while I am here, and although there is much Poverty and evil here, I can already see that God hand is at work here, just tonight we saw over twenty people come to chrrist right on the streets, plus many more children, please continue to pray for my safety as well as the conversion of many more Indians.
